Teeth Whitening at S4S

Research has proven that 99.7% of people believe their smile is an important social asset (2021, The UK’s Cosmetic Teeth Whitening Industry is Value). Hence, the demand for teeth whitening is increasing. Because of this, it is estimated the cosmetic dentistry industry’s worth will reach £7.4 billion in 2024 alone. On that account, there's never been a better time to grow your dental practice by offering teeth whitening.

Though all patients ultimately have the same goal - white teeth - it is important to chat with them about the possible reasons for the discolouration to prevent behaviours from being repeated and undermining results achieved. We all know that discolouration isn’t caused by just one particular reason. It is important to keep your patient ‘in the know’ about what it is that is damaging their teeth.

Here are some common factors to share with your patients:

Yellow - The ageing process is the main cause for yellow teeth, due to the wear down of enamel on your teeth.

Brown - Poor brushing habits, Tobacco, and dark drinks, such as tea and coffee, can result in brown teeth.

White - Multiple causes including: Fluorosis (overexposure of fluoride to the teeth), enamel hypoplasia (thinner development of the enamel on teeth), demineralization of the enamel on the teeth, low calcium diet, and poor oral hygiene.

Black -. Tooth decay – the destruction of the tooth, happening if sugars or starches are left on the teeth after a consistent amount of time.

Our solution:

As you may already be aware, we have been collaborating with Boutique Whitening for the past 4 years and are the exclusive manufacturers of their whitening trays. Boutique offers two kits - By Day & By Night - and is already used by thousands of dentists throughout the UK. By giving the patient options, it increases the likelihood of them being able to fit the whitening process into their daily routine. Boutique stock whitening kits that come with a voucher to get your patient’s trays made – meaning you only pay one cost.

Ultra seal trays:

Using our ultra-seal trays allows maximum results. The trays are designed to ensure there is a perfect barrier on the gingival line, keeping saliva from entering the tray, and reducing the effectiveness of the treatment. The design of the bleaching trays and the solubility, viscosity and composition of the gel are key in determining the length of time the gel remains active. The longer it remains active, the better the results for your patient.

Dosing Dots:

Additionally, we aim to make the process as simple as possible for the patient, so our ultra-seal trays now include ‘Dosing Dots’ on the labial and buccal aspects of the teeth. The Dosing Dots give patients a guide of how much bleach they should apply to each tooth. By doing so, it avoids any excess material sitting on the oral tissues for a prolonged period of time. This prevents any discomfort whilst the patient is wearing the whitening tray, as well as avoiding long-term sensitivity. Dosing Dots are included as standard, but can be removed upon request.

What the process includes:

Submitting cases is simple with S4S, as we accept both digital and physical impressions. To submit a digital case, you can send it through to us using our online prescription form.

You can view more information on Boutique Whitening and purchase a kit, including a tray voucher, from submitting a case. Then all that's left to do is send over the case by freepost or scan. Our technicians will then produce your patient’s bespoke, ultra-seal trays.
