B-splint - release appliance
The B-Splint or Release appliance is a device that has become popular with Dentists who are familiar with NTI-tss. The device aims to reduce muscle hyperactivity in turn reducing syptoms associated with clenching and grinding. The device is very thin and very comfortable for the patient:
Rationale
- To reduce mucle hyperactivity
- Severe bruxism
- Post Orthodontic treatment
- Disordered function of the TMJ and muscle
Construction requirements
- Upper and lower impression (silicone based material is preferable)
- Facebow registration (We can work with most articulator systems, a Kois Facebow can be made available to loan if required)
- We recommend a 'De-Programmed' CR bite registration is taken.
